So What! Wednesday…

 Today I’m saying So What! If…

*This morning on my way home I saw a girl driving with big curlers in her hair. I couldn’t help but laugh, and wished I could take a picture of how ridiculous she looked!

*I needed a little R&R night on Sunday night, so I called in to work….

*I’m a little sad….ok a lot, that all my shows are coming to end for the season soon. And all I can think is what am I going to watch now????

*I’m having some of my cousins over tomorrow for dinner and drinks and a tour of good ole Mabel and I’m so excited!!! Though I’m feeling the need to clean everything and finish a bunch of projects that have been on “the list” for a while!

*Someone made a run to McDonald’s the other night at work, and I had to have a McFlurry. Did I mention it was 1:30 am???

*I don’t know about the whole online dating thing. I just don’t know how much I believe those commercials. But it’s still in the back of my mind!!

*I’m obsessed with Instagram. I love taking random pictures and seeing what others are posting. Wanna follow me? @HellooNurse

*I’m pretty sure I had more to write for today, but I can’t remember any of it!!

Breast Cancer…..I hate you!

Yesterday was Mother’s day, I hope all of you Mom’s out there had a nice day. My Dad & I tried to make my Mom’s day special by taking her to church then to a nice brunch. She got 3 bouquet’s of flowers, all different and a pretty tank from me. I think the day was hard for my Mom since my sister lives in Colorado and we haven’t seen her since January. 

Mother’s Day for me was a different story. Of course I love spending the day with my Mom. We went to the cemetery to put some flowers on my Grandparents and Aunt’s graves. My Grandma would’ve been 88 tomorrow. And my Aunt was never a mother, but a loving godmother and Aunt to 14 nieces and nephews.

Then to add to the mood of Sunday, my Mom shared with me some absolutely terrible news. My almost 30-year-old cousin is pregnant (yeah!) but found out she has a very aggressive form of Breast Cancer and has to terminate her pregnancy to save her life (WTF!!) She’s facing a long road ahead of her filled with possibly chemo, radiation, surgery, even a mastectomy. I have so many emotions I don’t know whether to cry or scream and yell. It’s just not fair!!!!! And this news comes around the time of her 1st wedding anniversary and 30th birthday in less than a month. Talk about a shitty round of luck! Pardon my french….

I have such a history with Breast Cancer I really wish that it would stay in the past. We lost my Aunt to Breast Cancer in 2009 and I have participated in the Breast Cancer 3-day walk here in Michigan for 6 years. I’ve raised over $12,000 for the disease, and now it’s trying to kill another member of my family!

I’d really appreciate some prayers from bloggy land. I’ve been talking to God a lot lately, I’m sure he’s sick of hearing from me. So send your prayers to him and your happy thoughts my way!

And if you read this post and have opinions on abortions, don’t even think about leaving those opinions here. This post is about Breast Cancer and saving a young woman’s life, not about pro-life/pro-choice!!! Find another place to post your nasty comments, because they will not be approved here!

So What! Wednesday….

Saying So What! With Shannon today…

* I totally wrote this post last week, but never got around to finishing it. oops!

* My weekend to work consisted of a full night off Friday night and 3 hours of Euchre and socializing on Saturday night! A bad night of Euchre is always a good night at work!

* I got a blister on my finger last night from cutting and peeling a squash….who does that???

* I’m in love with the show SMASH! But really??! Dev is an A$$ for kissing another girl then proposing to make it all better!

* The other night I had to sit for 15 minutes to let my white strips work, so I decided washing the kitchen floor was a good timer!

* I love to watch Bethenny Ever After, but I’m getting a little sick of their constant fights and battles! Just love each other and get along!

* The Baccelorette Party on Saturday night reminded me that I am not in College anymore. I can’t drink or stay up as late as I used to!

* I fixed a leak on the outside of my shower door last night with my hot glue gun!!! Who needs a handyman or caulk when you have crafting supplies!!

Monday Ramblings…

I had such a busy weekend for once I’m happy to see Monday. It’s my day off and I’ve got nothing scheduled!

This past weekend was all about friends and family! Friday night was spent at the mall with a friend shopping for a bachelorette gift and then out to dinner with the rents and grandparents. Saturday I got to visit my friend’s baby in the hospital. Sweet Kate was born with a defect and after 2 surgeries and 6 weeks old, she’s learning to eat and tolerate food. I was able to snuggle Kate for a little while and visit with her mom!

Saturday night was my pre-school friend’s Bachelorette Party!! Yes that’s right, Kristin and I have been friends since pre-school. Our group of girls has been friends since pre-school, elementary school or middle school. We try to get together once a month for a “girls night,” and also for bacc. parties, weddings or bridal/baby showers! We had a blast Saturday night to celebrate Kristin’s last night as a single lady! We went out to dinner, had drinks and opened gifts then went out in a stretch limo to some bars. It was great to get out with the girls and dance the night away!

 

 I’m not in any of these pictures. Another friend took like a million pictures and I haven’t seen any of them yet. But I was there, I promise, not trying to be camera-shy!

After a long night of dancing and very little sleep, I went to my cousin’s baby’s Baptism. Little Henry is almost 7 months old and was a perfect little boy during his baptism! He had a few “snacks” in between the different parts of the baptism, but managed to pause drinking his bottle to get some holy water!

 Also on Sunday, this sweet little girl turned 1 AND was baptized!

 My other cousin’s baby had her party in Holland, MI. I wish I could’ve been in 2 places at once. It’s always hard having family spread out.

Handmade Sneak Peak…

The other night I tried another recipe from my Pinterest Recipe board.

I changed up the recipe a little bit. I used chicken stock instead of vegetable. I left out the chick peas, cayenne, raisins, parsley and almonds. I added some parmesan cheese on top with some salt and pepper.

 I’m sorry about the terrible picture! It was way better than my picture looks! I also made some super easy garlic cheese biscuits from my Betty Crocker cookbook that I’ve had since middle school Home-Ec!
